About The Port Index

The Port Index is a free, fast reference for 3,804 ports across 195 countries and territories. Every port page lists official physical characteristics — harbor depths, coordinates, maximum vessel sizes, pilotage, facilities and shipping distances.

Where the data comes from

Port specifications are derived from the World Port Index (Pub 150), published by the U.S. National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency (NGA). It is a public-domain U.S. Government work covering the location and physical characteristics of major ports worldwide. Location codes follow the UNECE UN/LOCODE standard.

Accuracy & disclaimer

Figures are provided for general reference and route-planning context only. Source values of zero are shown as “not reported.” Always confirm operational details with the relevant port authority, pilot, or agent before acting on them.
